Keith's Bio
Keith Lowrance wrestled at Granby High School in Norfolk, VA under Billy Martin (considered the greatest high school wrestling coach of all time). He was undefeated and a 2-time State Champion. He placed 5th in the Olympic Trials as a junior in high school. He was named the #1 High School Wrestler in the US as a senior.
He attended Michigan State where he won 2 Big 10 Titles and placed 3rd in the NCAA twice. Lowrance was well known as one of the most technically skilled wrestler in the country. He was captain of the team and received the Michigan State Leadership Award. He was an outstanding freestyle wrestler and was ranked 2nd in the National rankings, losing a 5-4 match to make the US World Team.
As a college student his coach was so impressed with his technique he asked him on a regular basis to coach and drill the team on his skills for 20-25 minutes per practice. The team won the NCAA title and placed 2nd two times. He has been coaching ever since.
He succeeded Coach Martin at Granby High School and later moved to Kempsville High School. He coached several State Champion teams and placed in the Top 3 seventeen times. His coaching record is a phenomenal 272-31-2 with 35 State Champions and 102 State place winners. He has been a National Coach of the Year and is in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Coach Lowrance has had many of his former wrestlers become coaches. Together they have produced over 20 State Championship Teams.
Coach Lowrance has been running one of the country’s most successful intensive summer and fall camp and clinic program for years. He also shares his wrestling knowledge through a remarkable instructional video series that has been seen by tens of thousands of wrestlers and coaches. He has mentored and trained literally hundreds of champions and helped train many of the top high school coaches and wrestlers at his camps. He is one of the most energetic and engaging teachers of wrestling you will ever see. He ranks as one of the country’s most knowledgeable coaches.
